Māori have performed with distinction in international competition representing New Zealand most notably was Ruia Morrison and Kelly Evernden. While Kelly was the only taane Maori to represent New Zealand at Davis Cup level many wāhine Māori have represented New Zealand in Federation Cup, those being:

Ruia Morrison, Arleen Rollerston, Kathy Costain, Nicola Kaiwai, Gaye McManus, Rewa Hudson, Leanne Baker, Shelley Stephens, Tracey O'Connor. Outstanding tāne players have being Peter Smith (snr) Barry Smith and Troy Tipene.
